Dr. Maurizio Miglietta

Dr. Miglietta is the former Chief of Acute Care Surgery at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Prior to that role at Columbia, Dr. Miglietta served as Chief of the Division of Trauma & Critical Care at New York University School of Medicine and Director of Trauma and Co-Director of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at the renowned and historic Bellevue Hospital Trauma Center in New York City. He is currently the Physician Advisor to the United States Secret Service.

Upon completion of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Fellowships at the prestigious R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and University of Maryland, Dr. Miglietta founded and serves as Director of the Homeland Security Mobile Trauma Unit. This unit provides medical care to dignitaries and federal agents in conjunction with the United States Secret Service and Department of State - Diplomatic Security Service. He is also an Honorary Police Surgeon providing expert trauma consultation for the New York City Police Department. Dr. Miglietta serves as a Medical Director for the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA).

Dr. Miglietta is the creator of Tac-Pack® pocket sized trauma treatment kit (Tactical Medical Packs, LLC) carried by federal and local law enforcement agents throughout the United States. He served as the company’s Chairman and CEO until 2012.  He also is the Medical Advisor to Intelligent First Aid, Inc. which manufactures the first “talking“ medical aid kit as well as X-tech which manufactures the next generation of football shoulder pads.

Dr. Miglietta is actively involved in educating medical students and surgical residents. He is the Regional Dean and Director of Medical Education for Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine and has started 11 new residency and fellowship teaching programs. He has authored and co-authored more than thirty peer-reviewed publications relating to trauma treatment and emergency surgery and is dual board certified in Surgery and Critical Care.

Dr. Miglietta is the President & CEO of Global Medical Guardians which has provided VIP concierge-type medicine to high net worth clients, organizations such as the NY METS, celebrities and others.

Dr. Miglietta was recognized as Crains Business 40 under 40 in 2008 for his business ventures.
